אהזהירנו מהבדיל ראש חטאת העוף בשעת מליקה. והוא אמרו יתעלה ומלק את ראשו ולא יבדיל ואם הבדיל פסל. והתבארו משפטי מצוה זו במסכת זבחים. (ויקרא, הלכות מעשה הקרבנות פ"ב):
