אשהזהיר הדיין שלא לרחם על מי שיהרוג חבירו או חיסר בו אחד מאיבריו רוצה לומר בפרעון קנסות. שלא תאמר עני זה וחתך ידו או סימא עינו בלא כוונה ארחם עליו ואעשה לו צדקה בעונש. והוא אמרו יתעלה לא תחוס עינך עליו ובערת דם הנקי וגו'. (שופטים ושוטרים, שם פ"ג):
