חשבתי דרכי ואשיבה רגלי אל עדותיך. הנה כאשר האדם חפץ לעשות איזה מצוה, כמו קימת חצות לילה וכיוצא, היצר הרע אינו מניחו לעשות, כי מכביד עליו איבריו ומפיל שינה על עיניו. אך אם האדם ערום ביראה, אז הוא מחשב לעשות חפצו וצרכיו, ואז מניח לו היצר הרע לקום בזריזות ממטתו וכיוצא בזה. וזהו חשבתי דרכי, פי' כשרציתי לעשות מצוה, חשבתי מקודם לעשות דרכי, בכדי שלא יהיה לי מניעה מיצר הרע, ואחר כך ואשיבה רגלי אל עדותיך.
