והטעם למנהג משום דנראה כמו דם בעין, וכנוס בקנוקנות כמו בלב. מיהו בדיעבד ודאי שרי, דלא מצינו בגמרא חתוך וקריעה אלא בלב (ובחוטין האסורים משום דם), ולא בריאה ובקנוקנות שלה (ריב"ש1, מנחת יעקב2):
