- טעם שחודש זה נקרא בשם "אב" - שם המורה על רחמים. (ס"א)
- טעם שבפרשת פנחס נמנה רק חלק מהמשפחות שנעדרו ולא כולם; יש לפעול על כל יהודי באיזה מצד שלא יהי', אך אין לשכוח על עצמו. (ס"ג)
- כל חסיד צריך לומר את הקאפיול תהלים של הרבי, וזה יועיל שהגילוי אור יוקלט בפנימיות; הרבי לא גילה עתידות סתם, רק כשזה הי' קשור עם "לאלתר לתשובה". (ס"ה)
